Additionally, a Mumbai Indians official referred to the rumors that Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rohit Sharma were quitting the squad as unfounded rumors.

In addition, the official said that all players, including Rohit, gave their consent before Hardik Pandya was named captain. Consequently, all other conjectures are baseless. All participants have agreed with this choice.

Over the last two IPL seasons, Rohit Sharma, who captained Mumbai in 2013 and guided them to five IPL championships, has seen his form deteriorate. Rohit participated in 16 IPL games in 2023, amassing 332 runs with a strike rate of 132.80 and an average of 20.75. Likewise, in 2022, he amassed 268 runs in 14 games with a strike rate of 120.18 and an average of 19.14.
