Work on building road from Cadila Pharmaceuticals to Sanatana Dharma Mandir commences

Ahmedabad: In a significant step towards community development, the groundbreaking ceremony of the road development project from Cadila Pharmaceuticals Limited's Dholka Gate to Indrashil Sanatana Dharma Mandir, commenced on Wednesday. The initiative is supported by Dholka Nagarpalika  and spearheaded by Cadila Pharmaceuticals as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)  for the convenience of communities.

The road development project aims to create a smooth and accessible pathway for visitors to the Sanatana Dharma Mandir, providing a convenient route to the sacred Indrashil Tirth Complex. The Bhoomipujan ceremony took place on Wednesday, marking the auspicious beginning of this transformative project. The construction work is scheduled to be concluded by December 20.

Former cabinet minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Dholka MLA Kiritsinh Dabhi, Dholka Municipality President Ashok Makwana, and other officers of the municipality graced the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Bhupendrasinh Chudasama recalled Cadila Pharmaceuticals’ Founder Late Shri Indravadan Modi’s contributions to the growth of the Indian pharma industry and paid heartfelt tributes to him.

The Sanatana Dharma Mandir, developed by Cadila Pharmaceuticals, serves as an experiential sojourn to revere, rejoice, and revitalise through the life of Late Smt. Shilaben Modi. She was the true backbone and a perennial source of inspiration to her husband Late Shri Indravadan Modi. The memorial is a tribute to her life, the origin of which is a Sanatana Dharma Temple.

Acknowledging Smt Shilaben Modi’s piety, the memorial recreates the pious constellation of the Sanatana Dharma. The Tirth Temple is a life-size, handcrafted stone temple, built in traditional Nagara style, through traditional wisdom and rich craftsmanship, enshrined with Shaiv, Shakt and Vaishnav sect deities for active worship, and marking the epicentre of the sacred landscape.

The centrality of the shrine is spatially punctuated by the mythological sculptures of the eight Digpals - the guardian deities of the eight cardinal directions. It is further surrounded by seven water Kunds representing the seven holiest rivers of India - Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, Godavari, Narmada, Indus, and Kaveri. It is conceived to be a microcosm of the religious cosmos and a tribute to India’s glorious architectural heritage and cultural traditions.

The temple is an integral part of Shantivan, the experiential sojourn to revere and rejoice through the life of the Late Shri Indravadan Modi. The memorial emanates from the centre where he was cremated.
